HGA Grades Pokemon Cards

The Pokémon Trading Card Game, also known as Pokémon TCG, is a tabletop game that involves collecting, trading, and playing with Pokémon-themed playing cards. While it has its own set of rules, it draws inspiration from the video games and features Pokémon cards for every species, Trainer cards with various characters and items, and Energy cards to power attacks. The artwork for the cards is often created specifically for the TCG by a team of artists, with occasional use of pre-existing art from the core series. The game has a large following and has produced over 52.9 billion cards in 14 languages, sold in 89 countries and regions as of July 2023.
The Pokémon Trading Card Game originated in Japan and was developed based on the popular Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow Game Boy video game released by Nintendo in 1996. It was initially introduced to the Japanese market in October 1996 by Media Factory. In the United States, the game was first published by Wizards of the Coast towards the end of 1998, taking advantage of the growing popularity of Pokémon in the country. Wizards of the Coast continued to release numerous expansion sets for the game over the next five years, until June 2003 Nintendo transferred the publishing rights from Wizards of the Coast to The Pokémon Company who still holds the rights and is the sole manufacturer to this day.

Graded cards often have a higher resale value and are more sought after by serious collectors to display, invest, and sell. It doesn’t matter if it is for personal collection or you are selling your cards, the first step to upgrading your collection is to get it graded.

Importance of Grading Pokemon Cards

Grading is an important part to any collector who wants to preserve, protect, and authenticate their collection. Grading your cards gives you assurance and piece of mind of the following points.

Condition Determination

A card’s grade can significantly influence its market value. A mint condition card can fetch prices exponentially higher than its worn counterparts.

Authenticity

Grading ensures the card’s authenticity, protecting collectors from counterfeit cards.

Protection

Once graded, cards are sealed in a tamper-resistant, protective case, preserving their condition. Allowing you to display and show off your cards without fear of damage or wear.
